  • Even those are generally “obvious” as level design makes it obvious there are interactables not inside a puzzle or that use tools that aren’t part of that specific puzzle. The narrative is what pushes you to think “… what if I take this out of the puzzle room?” but many puzzles outright teach you those skills with the kill fields.

As opposed to “You should have looked to the left while walking between these areas and realized that if you lined up the level geometry it would make an arrow”

  • They already don’t. The closest they had to a candidate was nikki haley and she is now just as hated by “the base” as cheney or romney.

And for as much damage as trump et al have done: It is well worth looking up clips of the times he said stuff like “I am not against vaccinations” and actually got booed by the crowd. He is not the source of the evil and is instead just a symptom of it and needs to play to his base as much as any politician.

So if he does have a truly tragic and sad heart attack: There basically won’t be a republican candidate for POTUS this fall. We’ll just speedrun to the “they stole the election, get your guns” stage of 2024.

  • Always feel Talos Principle 1 and 2 deserve more praise than it gets.

Ignoring the complete insanity that this is from the Serious Sam developers: Talos Principle (1 in particular) is one of those rare puzzle games where things “make sense”. Mechanics are introduced and the vast majority (I want to say all, but it has been a minute) of interactions and “tools” come from that. Rather than “oh, but you see, if you had noticed the way this one picture on the wall looks you would have found the secret tool you needed” wanking.

And the story is interesting enough to motivate progress but not so vital that you feel bad about taking a day or two off before going back to the puzzle.

Baba Is You has some of the “ha, its a secret trick” nonsense but, by and large, is a similar vibe and approach to puzzle solving.

  • One of my favorite questionably accurate explanations for why Americans hate bidets:

During WW2, soldiers would go to a LOT of european brothels. And they would see the bidets and associate them with prostitution. Also doesn’t help that sex ed is so horrible that people think “wash the cum out of your vagina” is at all effective and it further is marked as “sin”

But yeah. Been a huge fan of bidets for years. Well, to be clear, I don’t actually like the free standing dedicated bidets. But a toilet (seat) with an integrated bidet is life changing. And trivial to install, even if you are renting. Lack of heated water can be a bit jarring for a late night poo. But if your pipes are cold enough for it to be a problem… you have other problems.

  • No. It is still nowhere “near a toss up”.

One candidate is a violent racist who openly talks about how foreigners aren’t humans, led a violent insurrection, and is campaigning on removing the basic human rights of half the country.

The other candidate has some REAL blind spots when it comes to “crime” and a hard-on for Israel but is otherwise good.

I could MAYBE understand a weird sense of ethics where “Well, women and LGBTQ folk deserve to suffer if we won’t protect Palestine” but it isn’t even like trump is going to protect Palestine either.

So get out of here with that “both sides” nonsense.

  • Everyone says they want a fully new IP and blah blah blah

But how many people then immediately jump to say that they’ll wait for season 2 (or 5, because god forbid it gets cancelled) before they watch? Or that they’ll wait for it to hit netflix (who actually ARE doing a lot of new IPs).

Like, I fully admit I am part of the problem. I slept on Warrior until Season 2 had aired and then realized it was literally my dream show (a show with really good choreography, amazing action actors, gratuitous nudity, a really nuanced approach to racism against Asian Americans, and all based on the philosophies of Bruce Lee) and now have to acknowledge it is never getting a Season 4

But also? You need something REAL good to get me to give a damn about a new movie. Either a ridiculously solid actor (still gonna watch the new Gareth Edwards movie even if I hear it is mid) or for it to be tied to something I know I like.

  • Yeah. My understanding is that Deloreans were shockingly rust resistant but were also panels specifically so that they could be replaced.

I don’t know metallurgy/material science well enough to know if cybertrucks actually used good quality stainless steel or cut corners. And I can easily see a world where people assume the dirt is rust because of paranoia or just looking for internet drama/clout.

But… Rust or no rust, those cars are pretty fucked. Because they don’t even have a clearcoat. And considering we are in the season where roads are covered with salt and sand and cars are constantly bombarded with a highly abrasive slurry at speed, those panels are going to see a LOT of wear and damage.
