I think people assume they’re friendly because they can be pretty curious, which can appear like friendliness, but I’ve heard they’re aggressive biters when messed with.
Yet another refugee who washed up on the shore after the great Reddit disaster of 2023
I think people assume they’re friendly because they can be pretty curious, which can appear like friendliness, but I’ve heard they’re aggressive biters when messed with.
I would miss my wife and kids horribly, but I’m one of those folks who always feels kind of alone, even when around other people, so I think I’d be okay.
On the pro side, I live in southern California where I’m not going to have problems surviving the weather, even without electricity. I don’t get bored easily, I like to read, and I’d probably entertain myself exploring. As others mentioned, food probably is not an issue, though I’d have to make sure I got the right combination of proteins and amino acids once meat wasn’t available (or bring myself to hunt).
On the con side, I’m in my early 60s and, though I’m reasonably healthy, it’s only going to be so long before I have some health condition that, if nothing else, makes it hard for me to go out and about for food.
I was talking about Biden. This guy said they voted Democratic. I don’t know more than what was in Wikipedia.
Honestly, I think it’s 100% reasonable, and is basically the same thing Biden says. He says they’re Catholic and personally do not believe in abortion, but that he also believes his religious beliefs shouldn’t be shoved on Americans and shouldn’t be the basis for legislation. I don’t have an issue with anyone who feels abortion is wrong, I just take issue if they force that belief on everyone else.
Interesting, I never really thought about it, but of course that must be true for it to be legal anywhere.
I agree with you.
I’m not given to conspiracy theories, but the way the media is covering this whole election has me shaking my head. For a while there, it seemed like even the left leaning media was barely covering positive Biden stuff and they were all promoting anything claiming Trump is in the lead, even when the source was questionable. Then it seemed to swing the other way, around the time of the SotU address. And now we have this, that should really be big news, and it’s like a foot note.
I just don’t get it - it feels like we’re being manipulated, but why?
But the original states didn’t have balanced populations, the founders knew that, but they still set it to be two senators per state. The house is scaled by population.
The article reads like it’s a bad thing. “Barred for life based on a post-civil war addition…” I’m completely comfortable saying that if you participate in an attempt to overthrow the government, you should never be able to hold office ever again. It’s sad that we’re considering that “a new frontier,” and not just something that’s always been true but never had to be used.
The Senate isn’t intended to be a representative body, it’s just two per state. They aren’t doing things like setting funding/budgets. Congress (the house of representatives) is designed to do that, though that needs some tweaking.
Man, is that guy screwed. What a horrible, horrible person. And he’s having a kid with her so she’s going to be in his life even if he bailed on the marriage (which I hope he did).
Mostly good stuff. I don’t think I’d merge house and Senate. Some of them need more constraint, like I’d legalize prostitution, but only if it’s regulated like restaurants (health inspectors, workers rights, etc.).
I don’t know what the profit margins of Starbucks are, but in many cases they’re much tighter than people realize. The sale price has to cover materials, wages, insurance, property costs, and lots of other things. $1 a serving would be a pretty huge percent increase.
You could make the same argument about anything. I want the higher end iPhone and they should give it to me for the same price as the lower end to be considerate. If they don’t they’re greedy. I want leather seats in my car for the same price as cloth. And there are loads of restaurants that charge extra for substitutions if the substitute costs more (e.g., “premium sides”).
I’m looking at the online site for my local big chain grocery store. This is what I’m seeing, all for half gallon sizes:
These are all the less expensive alternatives. So almond milk is slightly higher than regular, but the others are a pretty significant percent increase.
I’ve known people who worked at their school’s library and it wasn’t only just accepted that they studied while on the job, it was encouraged.
Also called a pillbug. Okay, I’ll defer to you - maybe sowbug lol a little flatter.
Am I missing the point by saying that’s not a potato bug? Not even sure it’s a pillbug, but maybe is. Looks like a sowbug.
Only words I can think of are “lickspittle” and “toady,” but those are both for people who are overly nice to people in authority. Maybe “disingenuous?”
Biden win against Obama? Wow… he’s really going down fast. It’s one thing to keep bringing up his election against Hillary, but now he’s in some weird alternate reality.
It’s true that we have the lines. There’s no evidence that cats can see them, but it’s theorized that they can. Here’s a good article.
