I’m gonna blame you every time I eat a taco!
I’m gonna blame you every time I eat a taco!
This reminds me of people putting colorful stuff on their luggage to make it stand out at the airport. That can work pretty well, if you can find something fairly unique and secure it to the handle or whatever.
I use a mental trick to remember where I parked. As soon as I get out of the vehicle, I look up the lane to find a feature on the storefront that lines up with that lane. It could be anything: a rack of propane tanks, a distinctive awning, a broken light, a plant, a sale poster, or an individual letter from the store’s main sign. I then imagine that object getting up and walking down the aisle and climbing into my car like an animated cartoon. I know it sounds dumb, but it really helps me remember both the lane I’m in, and how far away from the store my vehicle is.
I do, too. Spez has failed upwards for long enough. The universe’s RNG is overdue for rolling low on this POS.
The more I learned about chess, the less I wanted to play it. It’s a beautiful game (the perfect game, according to some). But it has way too much memorization for me, and software has left human players in the dust.
Vote red, get blue balls.
Voice calls.
I despise Starbucks, but I’m not sure this lawsuit makes any sense. Those non-cow milks costs them more. Of course, the law often doesn’t make sense, anyway.
As another commenter said, they could just overcharge for cow milk and make the prices all the same. Then nobody is happy, but it meets the legal requirement (as I understand it).
Yes, I’m all for Right to Repair.
Unfortunately it’s only one part of our very broken healthcare system.
Yup, I get it. It’s important with regards to farm equipment and many other things. Just drives me crazy how they can’t cover the fundamentals, but they get fired up about McD’s ice cream.
Great. Now fix healthcare.
It’s the sort of thing that gets decided in a weekly meeting where some dipshit in middle management says “Guys, we need more engagement. Can we force them to watch a video? Is that possible? Seems like that should be possible.” Then some long-suffering coder has to admit that yeah, it’s possible. Then the coder then mumbles that it’s also a bad idea and very obnoxious, and that most users will just mute it or leave the page…but the manager douchebag doesn’t even hear it, because he’s already patting himself on the back for his ‘brilliant innovation’.
To steal an old trope: the tech bros have circled the globe eight times while the government is still putting its boots on. If there’s money to be made via automation, there’s no stopping it (unless we get the guillotines out of mothballs).
Wow, I remember that awesome post. I did the same thing as you. And you’re right, it made for a much better experience for a while there.
I have discovered blocking early and often helps a lot on lemmy, too.
They did that to prevent people from being able to shop for insurance. They promote capitalism, but they suppress competition which is, in theory, supposed to be part of a “healthy” capitalist economy.
The ACA helped a tiny bit, but it didn’t go nearly far enough. And then they tried a zillion times to revoke even that.
It’s never been about healthcare, it’s always been about making a small number of people very wealthy.
