It doesn’t really matter, because if the party wants someone to vanish, they end up in a ditch in the middle of nowhere.

Xi will either blame predecessors or the CIA. Whatever the case the lesson “learned” from this will be more government control and things will spiral down further.
It popped a while ago, but it will take a long time for some people to finally accept that. The parallels to the crash of the japanese housing bubble over 30 years ago are well… staggering. Ironically enough.
Already seeing many using it as a Tumblr/Twitter replacement where they share shower thoughts unprompted. It’s really odd.
He even was one when he didn‘t run for office. Hell most people don‘t even remember the name of Russia‘s other „President“ they had for 5 years. I for sure don‘t.
Israel has done a lot of fucking around and the only ones who are slowly finding out are their closest allies who find themselves being dragged deeper and deeper into a full blown genocide.
The company that erodes democracies around the world through aggressive lobbying (aka bribing) puts profits over people? I am shocked, I tell you! But sarcasm aside, props for actually warning the world about her former employer. I am sure she really did think she could make a difference from the inside of this morally bankrupt corporation at one point.
I almost want to believe they legitimately do not know nor care they‘re committing a gigantic data and labour heist but the truth is they know exactly what they‘re doing and they rub it under our noses.
Her world views are absolutely conservative by today’s standard. Especially her views on gender roles. I mean have you read Harry Potter when you were younger? All important characters that actually shape the plot are male. She went out of her way to give Harry different father figures, believing that‘s what a boy needs when he grows up. But it‘s enough when his mother just loved him. Her female characters are far less layered than the male ones and more often than not reduced to mere tropes. The most prominent one being the pedantically strict auntie, a template which wich gets pasted a lot. There’s also the crazy auntie character and the tomboy. But that‘s pretty much it, really. Hermione herself ranges between overly strict and tomboy throughout the books and the only way she managed to escape this pattern is by… magic plastic surgery to shrink her front teeth. Rowling has clearly defined genders to be a black or white kind of thing for herself and she clearly outlined which gender has to fill what role.
I remember it already being a thing 5 years ago with upvote/downvote buttons, karma and everything. I guess they just removed the abyssmally small grey text that said something like ‘paid ad’ in a corner?
Because interacting is exactly what you want when you watch TV in the couch
I’m all for Xitter bashing but it’s the same on Youtube and pretty much everywhere else. What’s actually most striking to me is how simple these bots are. They don‘t even use AI most of the time, just spamming the same hand full of extremely vague statements while having the profile picture of a young woman, often only showing certain body parts.
I‘m suspecting that more and more scammers caught up on the pig butchering trend which has been a huge thing in China for over a decade. Until last year the African prince was still the most damaging type of online scam for the US economy until pig butchering finally dethroned it. That shows how quick it‘s growing.
That being said, platforms in general seem to follow the same pattern in that moderation is practically non-existent anymore and it will only be a matter of time until Brussels will feel inclined to really crack down on it when it inevitably becomes a much bigger problem for online discourse.
This is what anti NATO sentiment gets you. It‘s not like China just started supporting Russia‘s invasion. They‘ve been working together from the very start and quite openly. But after Trump‘s rambling they now feel confident enough to show it plainly at a UN meeting.
I mean just late last year, Xi met with Biden in a historic visit, promising more cooperation and it took Trump a couple of minutes to reverse these efforts. Not like Xi could‘ve been trusted, but there was at least hope he could somewhat be contained, China being highly dependent on global relations and all. That‘s off the table now. Looks like we got another crazy dictator on the loose now.
Yes, despite what Larian wants you to believe, 30% of the company was sold to Tencent years ago to raise more money for BG3. Afaik Danny O’Dwyer dug that up from the irish business register because Larian never even made a statement about it. Instead they keep pointing out how privately owned they are and that there is nothing to worry about.
BG3 was a massive success, but I wonder how much of that cake is left after 450 employees, Bioware, WotC and Tencent got their pieces of that. If they really want to release a much bigger game in half the time, they’ll need to tripple their employees which will absolutely explode spendings. They have nothing else in the works until then, no mobile game cash cow or big merch sales to keep them afloat. The only way to generate more money when production costs will inevitably exceed expectations is… to sell more of themselves.
