The option to search for all instances would be beneficial. As another user posted, if you have an inkling that a community you’re looking for is in abc instance, then in a way the search app is redundant.
Similarly, some specific communities have chosen to reside in niche instances. Allowing the user to search through all instances would make it “easier” to find the needle in the haystack.
