  • I went to a Rammstein show, after it me and a friend couldn’t get to the hotel because there weren’t any buses that late, so we went to the back street to wait, might see the band go out or something and we had nothing better to do. At something like 3AM the gates open and they all walk out, we just stayed there because we didn’t want to bother them, but then Till walked towards us and asked “Have you been waiting long?” We were a bit befuddled and answered “yes?” and he said “Sorry to keep you waiting” and took a picture with us.

    Not a great story, but as a huge Rammstein fan that was really cool.


  • Completely different answer to what you’re asking, but I’ve found that the Steam Deck helps a lot with this because you can pause the game at any time, sleep the device, and then come back and be back in the game on that screen in 3 seconds. That helped me clear a lot of games because I could squeeze a game session in any 10/15min window of time I had.



  • Most people, including ND, can form habits, it’s mostly that people don’t know how habits are formed and think that just doing the same thing will eventually create a habit.

    To create a habit you need to have a trigger, just telling yourself to go for a walk is not a trigger because you might do that or not. A trigger might be feeling bored, finishing work, etc. I recommend watching https://youtu.be/75d_29QWELk it talks a bit about this, also reading the difference between routine and habits and how to form habits (kurtzgesagt also have a habit journal to help with it). I also tried for a long time to form habits by just forcing myself to do the same thing, it never worked.



  • I used to be just like you, I worked for a small startup, I was in essence their only programmer. I considered the owners my friends. Then one day I got sick and send a message saying I wasn’t going to be able to go on that day, one of the owners came in that day and asked for me (just because he found it weird that I wasn’t there) and another one of the owners threw a tantrum at me over email saying I couldn’t just decide not to go, that I either took a dr note or the day would be discounted from my pay. That did it for me, in that moment I realised that the weekends and extra hours I had given them were worthless, I went back a few days later with the Dr note and my resignation. On my next job I vowed to myself that I wouldn’t take work home, they forced clock in and clock out times, so the moment I clocked out I forgot everything about the work, and if ever I started to think about it I would remind myself that they don’t care.

    I work for a much better company now, and as a general rule as soon as the work is done I’m done with work, there are exceptions when things need to happen before a certain date, but I also get TOIL or something in exchange.
