This reminded me of something and for the last minute or so I couldn’t have said what, and then it hit me:
This is how You draw hands.

Just, y’know…grab the edge and tactical roll like a baby tyrannosaurus.
Following this thread of logic the thousands of devs laid off in recent weeks must be heroes. After all, if they don’t have a job, according to you they can do no harm, and that’s a good thing.
Unless you think someone who refuses to do the work they’re assigned are likely to retain their position?
This is what I’ve pieced together as well. Everything can be fairly easily found and used (or hoarded) in game. However, this in no way excuses the other issues.
That said, I don’t blame the devs. Someone light the C-Suite bonfire.
Everyone wants fix now! Fixes take time and resources. Often a number of small changes that work towards a larger, positive outcome. The issue I often see, if it is an issue and not my own blindness, is how so many people see the bricks and not the wall. A tremendous number of people can identify single, needed changes. Many more cannot link those changes to the necessary effort and other necessary changes that need to be made to get there. I’m certainly not smart enough to connect all the threads either. I do know, however, that alienating potential allies is a mistake. We have to work within the means that exist today, not within a dream of what we wish for tomorrow. Move towards that dream, just don’t exist within it hoping for better without accepting the resources we can use now.
“But billionnaire bad cause has the money!” is how people typically respond. I don’t even think being able to get billions is bad. The number itself is whatever. Actions are what’s important. A handful of the whatever-naires aren’t steaming piles of ass, so we should support them.
Whoaa there. That’s a bit extreme, don’t you think? Maybe turn it down a bit. Best we can do is Universal Debt and cardboard boxes.
I’ll have to do research on whether the President has the authority to codify anything, mostly to check the rules on that. Can’t speak on marijuana because, honestly, it’s not on my personal care list so I’m a bit more ignorant. Student loan debt though, he tried…right? Got turned down and has been working towards different paths. Seems like that one is in progress. Not sure we can blame him there.
Neither are a significant number of the non-wealthy. So again, I’ll take what help we can get.
He’s completed many promises to my knowledge (and a quick Google search). Which one are you referring to?
I mean I agree, though I also see the benefit of pushing the super wealthy who are more on our side to do more good. Like it or not, money go burr. I’d like to keep as much of that working for us as possible.
The rest on the other hand, those purely doing it for the high score and fuck you written in cursive: Those can go play on their private landing strip as a plane comes in.
I’m just going to say it absolutely was not reasonable to believe the world was ending. It was bad, made far worse by people who thought it was reasonable to cough and sneeze and spit on others, on food, and mass purchase hundreds of dollars of toilet paper. However, “world ending” is a bit sensationalist and only the easily fooled and unreasonable people justified such viewpoints.
Putting aside the tragic losses caused by Covid, both directly and indirectly, those three years might be argued as having been a chance to shift climate talks and the more negative cultural expectations experienced in developed nations, and especially the U.S. Hell, even the air itself was clearly up.
I recognize this is a hot take and am not in any way attempting to downplay how damaging Covid was to many families. It’s just such a damned shame a chance to change for the better ended up with where we are now. Further struggling, more homeless, greedflation, and an incessant need to argue amongst ourselves.
Is 30% on average “huge” considering the platform and total number of averages monthly users? I know that number does move around a bit as well.
I guess considering the ease of use for users and the fact that other platforms exist, they might be considered a monopoly only because nothing else of quality has shown up. It’s not like they’re buying out competitors and paying politicians to create laws and expectations to give them a competitive advantage. They’re literally just better than the other shit. Except arguably GoG which is solid in its own right, though not in the same ways as Steam.
Sounds like those just weren’t your type of game. Chances are I could toss a rock at work and hit someone who thinks COD is the best franchise on the planet. Not saying you’re wrong, your opinion is valid, just that to people who lean even a little more towards that kind of experience, to them these games are gold.
I try to not talk about this, though I jumped into a river to save a man who was lying face down and clearly drowning. Unfortunately I did not get to him in time and the bank was far too steep, and the man a solid 6’0 200+lbs, to get him onto any sort of ground.
Just proud that I tried and also proud that I didn’t allow the guilt to overtake me.
Until a gun is able to shoot waifu body pillows at me I’m not taking this as a valid argument.
Appropriate regulations would allow the responsible carrying of weapons while stripping people like this of the ability to, well…do that. It would also probably help to normalize the culture in the eyes of the people who speak up against it.
In other words, for those that tldr: Conservatives could be incredibly kind and might often actually do the right thing, if they weren’t total idiots. Problem is: They believe too hard literally all the time and base their self off an ideology built on narratives, true or false.
Look, I’m not gonna say Boeing did it. Though if they did, I’d bet money they drove.
You just revealed a lot more than I think you realize.
Climate change isn’t part of the discussion.
No one is trying to blame anyone in this context.
We’re talking about cultural issues that are tied in with the mental and emotional growth of people.
So very much hate and malicious intent is created by unstable people brought up to sincerely believe that what they do and believe is right. Often this is due to some religious indoctrination, though other reasons exist. Few are those who are truly evil at their core. In another group we have the confused and the uncertain trying to just exist in a world that is often cruel and unfair. As they grow and in moments of extreme vulnerability they reach out for answers.
As an online community one of the healthiest activities we can do is talk about these things. Express that shit is hard and offer encouragement and positive, safe places away from conmen and manipulators, as much as we are able. To do that we need to focus where we can.
