  • That should’ve been the post: a screenshot of that with the link given (was too lazy to find it again)

Yeah very silly takes on the fediverse. Right about one thing: the hivemind is strong. To offer a nuanced opinion, you have to go in hard at least sarcastically about the far-left view, then you can share how it could be theoretically questioned by a reasonable person. (Can and should. Echochambers will leave our minds feeble, so we gotta duke it out with the uncomfortable stuff.)

What’s the benefit of the hivemind? Should be harder for nazis to offer _non-_nuanced takes framed as questions (JAQing off). Wouldn’t be tolerated for a second; no one has time for it here. We take the good with the bad.

I would, though, love to subscribe to a conservative community with exclusively social-justice minded posters, but who still offer unusual or right-of-center framings. Like imagine if (heh, if) the US supports a terrible leader in the Middle East, but we actually couldn’t just cut communication with them tomorrow or something even worse could happen. And maybe we all here offer unwavering criticism of the US support b/c it’s so obviously the correct thing to do, but someone right-of-center can akshually actually us in a nuanced way that leaves us smarter. And more able to call out the correct plan of action too (e.g. cut off support in six months, not tomorrow, after a structure is in place). (…this example sucks)

  • I’ve never had a physical keyboard prevent me from using the number pad and force me to use the full keyboard (or worse, vice versa) because of an improperly configured input box.

It’s all I can do not to contact the web admin when this happens! Two days ago I used a form where the first box was set correctly and the second wasn’t. (Also how about when a site tells your password manager to input the p/w in the email field, uhg.)

I’ve never had the entire layout of a page shift to make room for a physical keyboard whenever I select or deselect a text box.

    Pretty rare, no?

I’ve never had a physical keyboard lag out then send an entirely different keystroke because it thought I held a button, or send a single keystroke because I was typing too quickly.

Might’ve seen that twice in the past year.

I’ve never had to wait a moment for a physical keyboard to show up after selecting a text box.

Interesting, just checked and I suppose I kind of wait a millisecond but it’s essentially imperceptible. (Have a pretty new flagship phone.)

Gotta check reviews on the Clicks now that I think it’s been out a couple months:

  • They made a new policy just for him!

“The posts that were removed were all actioned correctly,” says Joe Benarroch, head of business operations at X, adding that the posts violated the company’s “posting private information policy” for “outing the identity of an anonymous user.”

While X does have a policy around sharing private information, the company’s terms of service on March 20 did not mention a policy related to outing the identity of an anonymous user, and Benarroch did not respond to a request for clarification. On March 21, after WIRED published this story, X updated its privacy policy to specifically prohibit posting the ”the identity of an anonymous user, such as their name or media depicting them.”
