  • It’s almost like the law didn’t consider the idea that a bunch of angry and awful people would show up to one place intent on hurting each other. It’s almost like this is the opposite of civil order and he just showed up knowingly with a weapon.

I don’t really fault the jury for their conclusion, but gun owners just keep getting to show up with guns proving their own case that you need a gun everywhere to be safe.

This isn’t some silly partisan squabble. An echo chamber convinced a very very young man to show up and kill. And now he gets paid to speak? And you laugh at the people who rightfully hate him? Loool

I think Andor and What We Do In The Shadows are both interesting because sometimes the internicine wars are more brutal and interesting than the disagreements in our popular consciousness. It’s really easy to hate someone so similar to you.

Also the stakes are high when you are the minority and need each other to unite in order anything to get done. It really highlights the differences between ideology, whether they had been previously named or not.

Look at all the people who left the Trump administration and no longer support him. Or how big the hatred for Clinton is in many progressive/left circles. Look at all the religious people who wanted abortion to be banned but now realize they actually disagreed with the fetal life philosophy all along and didn’t realize it.

Yeah rebels VS empire is cool. Rebels VS rebels is actually way more interesting.

  • Yes the Biden years have not been some sort of economic triumph, but if you take the question at face value, how were things four years ago? They were horrible. Unemployment was record highs. Stocks had tanked. Hundreds of thousands of people were about to die. Etc etc etc.

That’s the problem with the binary decision, about the role of president, who doesn’t even make a lot of the critical economic decisions anyways.

The economy is not “good” but many indicators have been improving or are better than expected. But mishandling an event like a pandemic will certainly tank the economy, just like neoliberal policies will generally lead to a good stock market and little else.

  • It’s the same reason Republicans are asking “are you better off than you were four years ago?”

Anyone with an existing ideology probably knows who they are voting for. Swing voters are emotional.

Republicans are whistling to those just willing to judge the economy based on a Democrat being in office.

Biden is trying to thread the needle by pointing out there have been positive indicators without shirting on his own policies or advocating straight up anti capitalist messages.

After the primaries, the race is always a race to the middle.
