I was watching wrestling from the 90s recently and saw one of my favorites, Rick Rude:
Rick rude died at the age of 40. Which was right around the time of this photo. I’m turning 40 this year and I look like I’m 17 without a grey hair or line on my face. This guy looks like he can shred cheese on his cheeks.
The dad from Alf was 44 when season 1 came out. I’m an average looking 44 year old now and look at least 20 years younger than he did. The silent generation got old in their 30s instaad of their 60s.
Maybe as many people stopped smoking?
♫ The rooms were so much colder then
My father was a soldier then
And I was so much older then
WHEN I WAS YOOOOUNG ♫I was surprised that this wasn’t Pink Floyd, the lyrics sounded very Roger Watery.
The inevitable march of progress
My ass is they/them
Slut
Don’t shame them or their thussy!
Ok can someone explain this to me: Why are male and female pronouns paired with gender neutral???
I’m personally a they/he. It means both are okay but the first one is the preferred option. I much prefer they/the. but he/him is fine.
I thought the original use was for subject/object pronouns as in:
he gave me the paper. (he, subject)
i gave the paper to him. (him, object)
So the order in which they appear indicates a preference for one (the first one) but the second is also one that’s acceptable?
Also, why not just go with the preferred one and skip the one that’s just kind of tolerated?
I’m a cis he/they user. I find gendered language, especially in work contexts, pretty loaded and can be uncomfortable and prefer to use they pronouns out-going and incoming as much as possible but if people say “he/him” it doesn’t upset me.
That’s very much up to the person. It’s also not always true that people have a preference… I personally do but I also know people who genuinely don’t care which is used as long as it’s one of the listed ones.
For me personally, I’m very masc presenting so while I prefer they/them… He/him is tolerated and pretty expected so I don’t discount people for using it.

Because that’s who they both wanted to be, I guess. The decades are a false correlation.
