This was the angry Burrowing Owl from the National Aviary.
I had to walk by 3 times until I saw it was out of the burrow. I walked up slowly, but it took off and flew (so silently!) up to the sprinkler and gave me various death stares.
It was hard to get great photos of it, due to its defensive stance and the enclosure was a really tight plastic netting. I’ll post a pic so you can see it. It was easy to see through like a door or window screen, but of course the focus didn’t like it and it limited the available angles.
The Burrowing Owl looked a decent bit larger than Cedar the Screech, but I think half of that was the legs owl then Burrow Owl.

I know! I felt bad taking its picture, so I quick got out of there.
I liked his little habitat though!
