In searching out owl things on my Pittsburgh trip, I came across the owl restroom at The Zenith, a primarily vegetarian/vegan restaurant and indoor flea market.

Lined floor to ceiling with unblinking eyes starting at you while you do your business, the owl bathroom is an unsung modern marvel of the world. It’s a good thing owls don’t have much of a sense of smell!

Here are some pics of some of the treasures found within.

I’m not vegetarian and don’t enjoy veg much typically, but we did eat here and it is cheap and amazing! We did the Sunday brunch and got an entree and buffet for around $12 and everything was so delicious!

I got a seitan Reuben sandwich and it came with a side of something I can’t remember, and the peanut sauce noodles from the buffet had a line of people waiting for them when they ran out, because they were perfect. About 8 cakes to choose from for dessert as well. GF got portabellos with a wine sauce that was great too.

The meal was much better than the $200 we had at the fancy place…

I know what you’re talking about! I’m in that age and geographic range. There were a lot of chickens and turkeys.

Tigers would have been interesting, and the matching decor would be interesting, like if the living room set was all tiger print! 😆

My mom has a lot of cat stuff at this point herself.

Oh the turkey theme, I almost forgot. I recently visited my aunt who moved to a place just outside Baltimore, and she has an elderly Appalachian neighbor there that we visited. Mounted fish, Jesus, wood paneling, brown carpet, even a CRT television. Full on PTSD flashbacks hahaha

Lol are you sure you didn’t step through a time warp? 🤣

Console television or a “modern” CRT? When my ex and I bought her grandparents’ house 8 years ago is the last time I saw a console in the wild. What an age, back when TV’s were furniture!

Oh it was the real deal, ancient console. The picture was horrific, but she reported that she couldn’t really see it anyway and was just listening to the football 😂

I love it! Not too far off from my grandparents’ house, it just would have been baseball instead.

It was as you said, brown carpet, dark wood paneling, giant console, floral print soda for guests, lazy boys for the grandparents, swinging slatted wood doors, cut glass hanging lamps. And you can’t forget the knick knack cabinet we better not horse around anywhere near!
