FAQ: Aren’t you afraid this will help Trump?

This is a primary where Democrats are trying to get their voice heard by the man who claims to lead our party. We are well-aware that Trump is not our friend. There is a long time between now and November for Biden to change his policies and earn support from Democratic voters.

The only one that is active is the middle link.

And yeah, that person has a point very similar the same ones I’m making. For one, the ‘uncommitted’ thing wasn’t even a notion when ‘leftists’ started campaigning against Biden on Lemmy. Then, acting like people are going to bash Biden as a genocidal fascist and then all of sudden turn around ‘after the primaries’ and support him sounds like a really unlikely notion , like, how stupid do you think we are?. Let me rephrase that: I don’t believe many of the people spreading these thoughts will support Biden ever since they claim things like “both parties are fascists” (which is barely debatable) and also, the negative attention on Biden will continue to affect people’s opinions through the time of the general election.

Biden didn’t choose for Israel to do this, nor does he make 100% of US policy decisions, and it’s come at a very convenient time for his opponents to blame the entire situation on him. If he loses because of this single issue, keep in mind Ukraine is fucked, the EU is fucked, Central Americans in the US are fucked, anyone who depends on social welfare in the US is fucked, and that’s just the start. I’m Netanyahu would prefer Trump anyway, so he’ll be fine.

      RE inactive links

ok good that means the mods have done us a favor and removed all the comments that were making such fucked up accusations. im seeing other commenters here claim i am making up a strawman when in reality this meme is based on real interactions im having here. on lemmy.ml/world/blahajzone etc

edit 2: i found another, here’s a screenshot so it cant get deleted

acting like people are going to bash biden as a genocidal fascist and then all of a sudden turn around…

OMG genuinely no! i would never claim that in any way. i dont want to accuse you of strawmanning so please consider that you have grossly misunderstood my position! biden is not a fascist. trump is a fascist. please let me know what part of my post made you make this assumption because that was never my intention! (and if you are strawmanning fucking stop it 🥲)

edit: also check out this post which i believe represents my position well. i have also gotten good feedback from others that it provides a good model to understand the situation.

      RE your last paragraph

100% agree, except that i don’t seek to “blame the situation” on him. rather, the uncommitted movement is asking for representation from the guy who claims to represent them.

once again see this post, i think it’s good and i hope it can provide further clarity

Thanks for the clarification. I think my attitude comes from being genuinely concerned about Trump plus weariness from talking to other people about this. Personally, I’m far from fanatical about Biden, and wish someone else was running, but the fact that he’s a competent adult and not a deranged, greedy narcissistic traitorous lunatic is a major factor for me. The Democratic Party does need major reforms, though it’s not nearly as diseased as the Republicans, and I can see where you’re coming from. This post does a better job of explaining the concept than others I’ve seen, though I still have the concerns I’ve mentioned before.
