every time people post how much better they are then the rest of us because they are hyper intelectual and like to read philosphy I think about a sad lonely person that no one wants to have around.

Being “intelectual” is like a religion, if you start braging about it and making it your personality people will just leave. Keep it to yourself or to the people in your "Church’ (pro-intelectualism?)

First. Stop thinking someone is better than you because they know more about a certain topic. You definitely know more than them about another subject.

Second. We are all fools. When you understand this. You become an intellectual. Anyone can do it.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

        Bertrand Russell

What a conundrum. You have ascribed qualities to me that I haven’t expressed. And then denounced those qualities to fit your narrative. If you posted a meme that counters my political ideology, would that make you better than me?

Maybe politics isn’t about individual egos, and is about the collective ideas expressed.

Our wretched species is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road.

            Voltaire

Edit: I just had sexual congress , so not sad, not lonely. Maybe reading philosophy and history works after all.

Thanks. That is helpful, although it is difficult sometimes not to write in a passive voice.

If you believe in your mission, it becomes imperative to form arguments that help people change their minds, rather than long winded opinions that cement yourself as an intellectual while alienating your audience.

I agree. It is a struggle to communicate on social media without seeming aloof. It also doesn’t help that people are generally defensive and combative. How do you engage in meaningful conversations without coming off as condescending? It’s a process with a steep learning curve.
