The amount of celebrities that get into politics in America and end up doing well is baffling to me. I know celebrity worship is insane everywhere, but in America it seems like it’s reached the a point of blind blithering idiocy.
The closest thing I can remember of there being in my country is this guy from dragons den or shark tank or something, and there was such a backlash to him even suggesting he was going to run that he never ended up even running.
That’s still really low IMO given the data available to us now.
Yeah but human nature so unelected rich people should control everything and slowly enslave me more and more. This is the best possible system because of my vague abstract idea of human nature.

I’m reminded every year on my Facebook memories of this fact when I posted the Donald Trump Oprah interview where he said he’d run as a Republican because they’re the dumbest voters and we had a long conversation about it in my feed, and the video is removed. And every instance of it is gone. And snopes has a fake fact check on it, claiming it was from a magazine and was false. And people have discussions about it being a Mandela effect thing.
Except we quote it in our conversations on my old Facebook post.
The internet is not a bastion of unfettered memory that cannot be manipulated. That whole thing shattered that illusion for me.

It’s a simple enough concept that I understand the point that he’s trying to make, but he never really actually gets there and does it in a way I can only describe as stupid.

Being realistic about the situation your country is in will make it easier to create realistic solutions. Pretending this did anything other than show that the left has absolutely zero power in the states is counterproductive to improving your country.
