  • Phenomenon (1996) with John Travolta.

We were with a group and some of the group wanted to see it, despite doubts by some of us. So we went anyways, figured even if it’s bad, it’s a shared experience. The movie was kinda meh, boring and forgettable, but not bad per se. However it is a looooooong movie, after about an hour about half of the group wanted to leave. Multiple people had already walked out of the theater at that point. By the time 90 minutes rolled around even the people who really wanted to see the movie said they wanted to leave. We were one of the last to leave, most people had walked out at that point. The theater apologized and gave everyone a voucher for another movie.

It wasn’t even the good kind of bad where it turns into campy or corny or anything like that. It was just boring AF and maybe more of a TV movie than an actual theater experience.

I believe translucent or trans for short is an old term which may offend some people. The preferred term nowadays is opacity deficient or people with additional opacity requirements when talking about a group.

If you or a loved one think you may be opacity deficient, don’t be ashamed and call the national hotline or speak to your doctor about it. We are proud of your see-through nature and will support you no matter what.

  • The reason people like Trump and others keep saying stupid outrageous shit, is so the media reports on it. They are following the no such thing as bad press method.

People like Boebert and Magic The Gathering only got to the place they are because they talk shit all the time. It’s their way to stay relevant in the eye of the public.

You can stop this kind of dumb childish behavior on their part by not clicking on articles about these things. The media is desperate for clicks and views. So they drum up entire articles about one thing one of these pieces of shit spouted. Preferably with clickbait titles. By simply not engaging, not clicking, not viewing, you can tell the media stop this and do your damned jobs. And if you want to go one step further, don’t visit sites that regularly pull this shit. Block them on social media.

    Especially don’t repost their shit.

  • Agreed, but it leads to people who are less knowledgeable to draw the wrong conclusions.

Basically for just about anything you want to do on Earth Newton works perfectly fine. You can send people to the moon using nothing but Newton. Two big things you need Einstein for is the orbit of Mercury and GPS satellites. So from a pure science point of view Newton is wrong or maybe incomplete. From a regular Joe point of view Newton is dead on. By proclaiming Newton is wrong, it leads to people concluding that all science is wrong, because there is always someone working on the next iteration. So people think vaccines are dangerous, wearing masks is dumb, herbs and spices cure cancer, global warming is fake and homeopathic shit does anything except remove money from their wallets. Because what do scientists know, they’ve been wrong all the time in the past.

Newton is not wrong, it’s just incomplete for some very niche things. And Einstein fixed all of that so we’re all good.

In reality it’s good to always be looking to disprove something and create new and better knowledge. But only if that’s your job and only for very niche things. We’ve got the basics down for most things on Earth and there is no reason any regular person should doubt that.
