The problem is a lack of men in teaching roles.
This is something that men will need to step up and do. We need left wing men who’ll help them out. And each of us can do what we can to help the boys we know too.

I think I’m in the exact same position as you. Generally speaking I tend to be personally conservative about sex and relationships – not really into hook up culture, thinking sex should be with someone you deeply love, etc.
That said, as a single, nearly 30 year old dude, I do watch porn, and it’s usually by independent content creators, not studios. I find the idea of maligning those women for what they do to be utterly reprehensible, and peak hypocrisy. If I were in their shoes, there’s a decent chance I’d also post nudes and try to monetize it.
Yet, at the same time, I don’t like subscribing to only fans, because it just feels wrong, like on a core level personally. On some level, I’m wary of getting overly invested in someone and having a weird parasocial thing. I’m glad that I’ve given them money in the short term though.
Human sexuality is really weird, and the way society plays into it makes it nigh incomprehensible sometimes how we feel and act about it.
Wait, what? He said that??
Well that’s what our legal system is for, to hash out individual cases. If someone’s going as a citizen journalist that’s very different from going to “keep the peace and shoot looters” and very intentionally bringing along long guns, vs pistols.
Not quite, it looks like the US resolution just calls for the importance of a ceasefire, and Russia/China are saying there should be an immediate ceasefire.
You’re correct, it just outlines the importance of one
Let’s not assume anyone is in favor of that. Either way the genocide is a genocide and completely wrong. It needs to stop immediately.
You really don’t want an automated system to have complete, unbreakable control over a scenario. You always want the option for a human to manually take control, because automation isn’t foolproof, especially in edge cases.
However, they probably should have a breathalyzer that prevents you from taking manual control if you’re so impaired that the automated system is probably safer than your drunken judgement.
Conservative finds out that being unpopular but getting off on court cases/winning the electoral college doesn’t change their unpopularity. More at 11.
I dunno about that. If you needlessly insert yourself into a dangerous situation and you kill people in self defense, there should be consequences.
He went looking for violence. He found it.
I want you to know that I don’t have an answer for this and that you’ve made me think about this from a different angle, which I very much appreciate. It’s a very good point.
With the threat he poses, I’m fine with that. Pay him millions to go to Russia if it means he drops off the face of the Earth with regards to socials and politics.
Eh I disagree with some jobs. Teachers are supposed to be role models to students and keep certain things private.
The problem is we aren’t paying teachers adequately for that. It reminds me of essential workers during the pandemic. If we need these people so badly, or we’re asking them to be role models and be private about certain things, then we should be paying them much, much more.
While we’re at it can we force OpenAI to change their name since they aren’t running open source code?
Yeah that’s my concern. The first time I read the headline I went “Well, that’s their choice to make and we should respect it.” But then I noticed the whole military junta part, and that they had overthrown the president. I don’t think we can say without fair elections if the people actually want the US to leave. I wouldn’t be surprised actually if they don’t want the US to leave in light of the military takeover.
I get the grim feeling that the military junta has struck a deal to send conscripts to Russia in return for aid and closer diplomatic relations. Which is all kinds of fucked up.
I’m impressed. You’re so insufferable that you’ve managed to piss off both Tankies and the people who hate Tankies.
Thank you for posting this though. This thread has managed to reaffirm my faith in Lemmy users. It’s a relief to see that people who bitch about mods and “hurt feefees” are still ridiculed.
It’s a shame, almost. After reading through this thread, I get the distinct impression there would’ve been much more spicy takes for you to die on. But, c’est la vie.
Honestly just make all food cheaper, it’s become way too expensive.
Aye
Human-caused climate change is likely playing a role, researchers said, but is probably not the only factor. Climate models predict a steady rise in sea surface temperatures, but not this quickly, and ocean surface temperatures also fluctuate and can be affected by natural climate variability, including patterns such as El Niño and La Niña.
So scientists don’t yet know precisely why sea surface temperatures have climbed so high.
The article is pretty damn clear that there’s something else going on, and it isn’t only climate change. Your own quote says “with some natural ocean processes that aren’t well understood playing a role, as well”.
My point is not that climate change isn’t playing a big role or the main role here. My point is that there’s something else that’s also going on, and it’s there’s way too many comments saying “it’s climate change lmao”. The entire thesis of the article is that something beyond climate change is also raising temperatures.
I’ll edit my comment to make it clear that climate change is likely the major cause, but I’m not going to delete a comment that’s trying to reinforce what the article is actually saying. As an engineer I consider it part of my job to make it clear what science news is actually saying. I’m no climate scientist, but I would prefer for people to actually listen to what the climate scientists are saying. And they’re saying it isn’t only global warming.
Interesting, thanks!
