I’m not sure where the middle ground is between justifiable medication versus identifying problems of society or parenting. I’m just glad I’m not alone in recognizing that the problem is out there and smarter minds than me are hopefully trying to address it.

Tangential note but where do people stand on overprescribing medications that essentially numb or alter the mind in perhaps unexpected ways?

I think of the fact that 1/3+ of the country is modifying their brain’s chemistry from doctors routinely receiving kickbacks from pharmaceuticals and it absolutely terrifies me.

From lithium to benzos to stimulants like Ritalin to Adderall… I really hope the medical industry knows what it’s doing.

But then I think about how oxy was massively over prescribed and I have my doubts. I don’t think this is a conspiracy theory as much as a genuine concern with a historical pattern of abuse from the industry. I fear we are all masking symptoms rather than identifying and resolving root causes at the societal and individual level.

I just came from a soccer game with my toddler. Toddler. And parents are already threatening their kids if they stop running off the field to get a drink of water, screaming at their kid. • Whatever happens between now and November, it doesn’t change the fact that an election is going to occur in November. Furthermore, in that election Trump would be worse in quite literally every conceivable way, including for the people of Palestine / Gaza. Therefore nothing you said has any impact on my point in my comment.

• Feel free to pressure Biden to do more for Palestine in the meantime; just try to comprehend that if Biden too quickly shifts to abandoning longtime support for Israel, he may ostracize an even-larger voting bloc of Jewish Americans who by the polling support Israel pretty vehemently (80%+).
