With his track record of supporting working people, we’re eager for his administration’s continued progress on our core issues,” the union announced in a Tweet Wednesday.
Conveniently ignores his signing into law making it illegal for the Rail Workers to strike. Very much a Reagan move and very much not pro-worker. Union solidarity!
No. The right to strike is still denied to railroad workers. (And air traffic controllers which is why I referenced Genocide Joe being like Ronnie who fired ALL the air traffic controllers when they went on strike because it was already illegal for them to do so)
You might be thinking about how further negotiations were done to get some concessions from the companies in regards to sick time.
WASHINGTON, June 5 (Reuters) - More than 60% of U.S. unionized railroad workers at major railroads are now are covered by new sick leave agreements, a trade group said Monday.
Last year railroads came under fire for not agreeing to paid sick leave during labor negotiations.
In December, President Joe Biden signed legislation to block a national U.S. railroad strike that could have devastated the American economy after some unions voted against the deal over a lack of paid sick
As we all know, 60% is passing…?
So, by contact, not by law, some railroad workers get 4 days of paid sick leave. (some get more, some can convert other paid time off towards sick days)
By law in New Jersey most workers get up to 40 hours of paid sick time per year.
And this doesn’t touch on how farm and immigrant workers get screwed over. I have to limit the discussion somewhat.

The Transport Workers union has already endored Biden.
So? Has Railroad Workers United?
They’re part of the old United Transportation Union, AFL CIO, which endorsed Biden.
If you really want a union not to pick Biden, I’d pick the Teamsters. Who haven’t endosed yet.
RWU is not part of another union. They may have members in the AFL CIO, but many aren’t.
Wasn’t this reversed later?

Got it. Yes, sick leave.
