I know it’s not super popular with fans of the source material but I loved Watchmen (2009), specifically the director’s cut. It’s probably my favorite standalone superhero movie.
The theatrical cut left out some (what I believe to be) important scenes that expanded on character backgrounds and motives. The ultimate cut is nearly identical to the Director’s cut from what I recall, but also includes animated segments depicting 'The Legend of the Black Freighter" that appeared in the graphic novel and bloated the runtime to 3.5 hours which is just insane. So between the three versions, the director’s cut feels like it does the best job of telling the story without overstaying its welcome.
Yeah, he’s modeled his whole persona around looking and acting like a generic rockstar clichè. And his movie career more or less fizzled out (apart from animated work) well over a decade ago, so I can see how people might’ve just assumed he fell off back then for nefarious reasons rather than just being a shit actor with the range of an indoor cat.
This is going to be great. Conan’s Late Night remote bits and travel series have always been some of his strongest work.

Which is why they’re now under investigation from the FCC.
Ummm, no, they aren’t. They’re under investigation by the FTC for their deal that allows Google to train AI on user content. The FCC is not conducting the inquiry and it has nothing to do with these ads.
It’s really annoying that people can just make things up and it gets upvoted because nobody actually reads the damn articles.
This whole thread cements my view that lemmings are a bunch of teens and 20-somethings that have little real-world experience and are angry at what their generation is waking up to.
Yes dear, everyone that disagrees with you is just an angry child. 🙄
Could accidentally give someone collateral to take out a massive loan they cannot afford long term.
Wtf is this paternalistic BS. They could buy drugs or guns too!! 😱
“Paying people more would be irresponsible of us. The poors would be burdened with the responsibility of having too much money! It would destroy them!”
This is probably the most ridiculous comment I’ll read on Lemmy all year and it’s only March. Wow.
Two of my favorite things. Cats and The Simpsons. Now that’s what I call a cromulent post!
Yep, it’s an amusing headline which makes it perfect for this community but it’s a genuine problem that needs to be navigated carefully. But as far as problems go this is a pretty damn good one to have.
Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts!
Oh yeah, everyone knew exactly why he was there. It was a thoroughly choreographed racist hissy fit.
Everyone’s (rightly) focusing on 1/6 so I’ll go a different route and mention what I think was Pence’s biggest moment of public humiliation and utter servility as VP:
Remember back in 2017 when Trump made Mike Pence to go to that Colts v. 49ers game then throw a racist temper tantrum and storm out when players took a knee during the national anthem? Lmao
How’d selling your soul to be Trump’s VP work out for ya there Pence-y boy? Really gave your political career a boost, eh?
True but it’s a joke in a meme community so I think it’ll be okay if it doesn’t meet the scientific rigor we expect in the rest of the communities on mander.xyz
Yeah you got me, I’ve got no sense of humor because I didn’t like your hackneyed prison rape joke.
Rape isn’t funny.
It’s for the best anyway. It’s better for the health of the fediverse when communities are spread out across a wide array of instances. The consolidation of communities on lemmy.world is not ideal. Good luck with the community!
