  • How exactly? /s

I never said what I thought in any direction. I simply stated some leading observations without conclusions about their meaning.

Once upon a time I worked for an asphalt company as an operator at the plants and rock quarry. When the test inspector showed up, so did the test and inspection mix running through the plant.

That is why I asked in the way this post was worded. I am looking for someone(s) like myself that are experienced and perhaps smart enough to read between the lines of corruption. It is an unlikely person(s) to find here.

Discovering the various perspectives, along with the spectrum of Lemmy that engages with this post are also interesting from a couple of angles.

  • Totally dynamic from every level and fully integrated between mobile and PC. I would build a real time strategy game that encompasses space civilizations that span planetary systems, overhead strategy, and a first person individual level. I would put in place elements where recruiting human participants in a collective dynamic is important but not required for marginal success.

Most of all, I would add game theory at all levels where fighting, killing, and waring is a disadvantage to more complicated social and political elements along with exploration and adventure. I would not restrict the explicit nature in any way. I would use all of it for a hard SciFi social critique, as all SciFi really is under the surface. And I would totally avoid the dystopian nonsense and fantasy magic bullshit like FTL travel, and aliens of any kind.

  • Never run a business as a worker making ends meet. You’re one recession away from failure. If you are not putting back a healthy margin to build a business, save for the unknown and opportunities, you’re in a bad place that will likely bite you in the long run.

Do whatever it takes to put off hiring people as long as possible, and then push way way past that. Never hire people unless forced to take loads of money in exchange. Your efficiency will drop drastically and they’ll be worth a tenth of yourself for half of your money.

  • I am fully disconnected from that mentality and do not miss it. I used to waste a lot of time around shopping for needless and pointless nonsense.

I will spend a whole lot more on things I really need or want, but I don’t feel like I am a target for marketing in any way now. My last major purchase was an AI capable computer which was likely due to YT and Reddit manipulated suggestions and visibility. I don’t regret that one. Since I quit reddit in June, I have also pulled way back with YT. I’m on Linux/Graphene and my primary network connection is though a whitelist firewall. That seems to be just enough to stop the subconscious motivations and desires for stuff I don’t actually care anything about like this.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but the best and brightest psych majors are going into advertising for a damn good reason, and it ain’t making prettier HTML banner ads like it’s 1999.

I recommend having a long think about that whole buying little things makes an emotion paradigm and start asking yourself what could be the causes of such behaviors and how they might have been intentional manipulation across platforms and information spaces. There is a reason why data stalking companies are so pervasive and everyone wants you to use an app where they have constant sensor data from your device.

  • There is no real comparison with present computers like this. Humans are massively parallel in operations. Present CPU architectures need the speed because they handle a tiny amount of data per cycle.

The primary bottleneck is the L2 to L1 cache bus width. This is one of the main bottlenecks that makes the CPU perform poorly with large language models.

If you remove such bottlenecks and let everything happen at once and start using analogue computational elements for neural networks, the needs shift entirely. The speed requirement is specific to the technology/efficiency/scale. The human brain is orders of magnitude more energy efficient than silicon. It has its issues, but it has too many advantages for sustainability long term. It is the ultimate self replicating recyclable machine.

In a properly designed vivarium, a system could only require cyclical sunlight for powering a self sustained computational unit on geological time scales, assuming all respective lifeforms were fully understood scientifically.

  • I’m biased to say save and get a Prusa. It is what I did. It is not a printer project. The hardware specs are a misnomer. The continuous investment in the community is the real selling point. I spent more initially, but my Prusa is still worth nearly what I put into it even as a MK3S+ when the 4 is a thing. Everyone knows it will still work, and continue to do so, while parts will always be readily available. No one worries that it is some failed project.

Now if I tried to sell my little modified KP3S Kingroon, that thing is pretty much worthless now even though it works okay most of the time. I spent more on it at $200 than I did on the Prusa at just over 3× as much. I barely used the KP3S, wasted $100 on “upgrades” and it is now all loss. I got it after the Prusa knowing it is a project to screw around with. Spending more can often mean spending less when you consider long term value. That is just my personal opinion. I don’t regret buying the Prusa.

  • It is entirely up to you; every set of eyes that reads this.

Every post, every community you participate within, every upvote, every positive interaction is helping this place grow. All we need to do is make a place people want to visit; add value to their and our own lives.

Yesterday I started Word of the Day !wotd@lemmy.world

I moderate !3dprinting@lemmy.world and a couple of others that are not active. I’m at 179 posts and 1485+1 comments. I’m here a few times at least on most days.

I try and post in as many other communities as I can and be as positive an influence as I can manage.

The best thing you can do is upvote and participate in absolutely every little niche you can possibly participate in. I’m a jack of all trades master of none, but I’ll even go outside of my comfort zone to try and support everything I can. I don’t just take from this place, I want to build it, to grow with it, to be a part of it. I am the fediverse. You are the fediverse. It is what you make of it.

I posted this when there were less than 5k active users on Lemmy and .world was a couple of weeks old: https://lemmy.world/post/36032

That post is still just as true today.

  • I have to keep my head down. It doesn’t matter most of the time because I ride a dedicated bike trail route. I also ride at the end of my day or even at night. I don’t want to know more than I need to about cars. My PTSD is too bad for traffic. I mostly only ride for physical therapy now. It is not really a problem for me to ride like this. I’m at over 170k miles, riding most days since 2009. I can tell what is going on around me just by sound at this point. The people behind are not the real problem. It is the u-turns that will get you. I’ve had 2 bad crashes out of 6 total and both bad ones were u-turns.

  • As Wesker said, make it an exploration all about her and let it go wherever it goes. If you don’t get motivated for more, that is okay. Play it cool and don’t make a show of it. Take her to climax and then be whoever she needs in the moments after. If you do not take, only give, and never make it into a thing, you’ll be mysterious and interesting as a side effect. If you’re not into her, that will become clear in time.

Also double up on an exercise routine where you do a short morning and afternoon activity that gets you sweaty at a minimum. That always helps me.
